Advanced Global Literature & Rhetoric for Middle School on up
Step into a rich literary journey with Exploring the World Through Story: Level G, an online, discussion-based class at The Bookish Society designed for middle school students ready to deepen their reading, writing, and critical thinking. Each week, we’ll explore powerful stories from around the globe—myths, epics, and historical fiction—from cultures including Greek, Roman, West African, and Mesoamerican traditions.
Using the acclaimed Stone Soup Press curriculum, students will analyze complex themes, build rhetorical skills through structured writing, and engage in lively, Socratic-style discussions. This course nurtures thoughtful expression, cultural understanding, and a love for timeless stories—all in a supportive, interactive setting. Perfect for learners ready to think bigger and write with purpose!
Signup note: We have a multiage classroom and many students take this class in high school if they aren’t familiar with academic writing. This is also the first level where there will be homework each week.
All Bookish Society classes include free access to our weekly school-wide online gaming hour (Geek Out) and our private Minecraft Server (Java) details included upon enrollment.
